Laser Treatment for Spider and Leg Veins
The leg vein laser treats individual and matted spider veins, which can be red or purple, raised for flat, and are commonly fond around the ankle, calf or thigh. The majority of patients seeking treatment for removal of unsightly leg veins are for cosmetic reasons. Most are uncomfortable with the appearance of these veins during the warmer months when shorts/skirts are worn.
The leg vein laser produces an intense but gentle burst of laser light that passes harmlessly through the skin and is selectively absorbed by the vessel.
The light produced by the laser generates heat within the vessel destroying it without causing thermal injury to any of the surrounding tissue.
Patients will experience some temporary discoloration or reddening of the skin around the treatment sight. Hypo- or Hyper-pigmentation response or increase in pigment color may be experienced by some patients. The skin will typically return to normal pigmentation over time.
An average treatment takes between 15 and 30 minutes. Most veins will fade after one treatment. However, additional treatments may be required depending on the size and location of the vein.
